UNU MIDDAY FORUM:

Blue 'Helmettes': The Role of Women in UN Peacekeeping

Monday, March 9, 2009 | 1:15pm to 2:45pm

Conference Room 7,
UN Headquarters, New York

How long will it take to achieve gender balance in UN peacekeeping forces?

In recognition of International Women's Day 2009, this UNU Midday Forum will host a discussion on the importance of gender mainstreaming in military, police and civilian peacekeeping as well as highlight the challenges faced in achieving greater female representation in this field.

This discussion is part of the successful ongoing series of midday seminars—the UNU Midday Forum.  The UNU Office in New York aims to provide an intimate setting for the exchange of ideas and experiences, related to topics currently researched within the UNU and the UN, giving academics, policy makers and practitioners an opportunity to participate in the work of the organization in a constructive and informal setting.
